This article describes significant obstacles our clients, and we as their advocates, have faced with the Road Home Program; it does not attempt to reveal all difficulties with every policy and implementation method, which are vast. Many hundreds of applicant stories, some of which are included here, frame our perspectives and inform our understanding.
We hope that describing these barriers will result in increased government transparency and accountability. Most importantly, we hope that with increased attention, the people in our communities will finally receive the rebuilding assistance they are due. We know this will not happen from the writing of an article alone and are counting on readers to continue to support our communities and demand justice.
This page exists to provide Road Home applicants with assistance as they navigate this broken system. Visit the Template Appeals page to find templates that may help you prepare a letter to appeal a Road Home decision. See here for links to additional information.
